The Japanese submarine ''I-165'' was a of the KD5 sub-class built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) during the 1920s. ==Design and description== The submarines of the KD5 sub-class were improved versions of the preceding KD4 sub-class. They carried a total of 14 torpedoes. They were also armed with one deck gun for combat on the surface,〔Bagnasco, p. 183〕 as well as a anti-aircraft machinegun.〔
